Pumping Equipment Technician (1 Position)

The Pumping Equipment Technician is a member of the Aquatech Pump and Power Team, Ottawa Branch. The Technician will load, deliver, pick-up and unload equipment and supplies as well as assist in pump setups and teardowns as required. The Technician is also responsible for the maintenance of the yard, equipment, hoses and accessories. This position requires an individual who demonstrates a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turn-around times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless service to external and internal customers.
Job Responsibilities
- Daily handling of pumps and pumping accessories.
- Load, deliver, pick up and off load equipment and supplies.
- Assist as needed in the set-up of pumping and / or environmental equipment.
- Perform regular maintenance and servicing on equipment in rental fleet to ensure product reliability.
- Perform inspections of fleet equipment for possible damage and report and document accordingly.
- Perform preventative maintenance on shop equipment.
- Test all repaired equipment prior to releasing.
- Operate company trucks and forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
- Wash and clean equipment, hose and pipe upon arrival to the yard.
- Repair hoses, pipes and accessories after return.
- Maintain the yard and all buildings in neat and orderly fashion.
- Greet, on occasion, customers at the Aquatech yard.
- Respond to emergency field service calls.
- Participate in a rotating after hours emergency response on-call schedule.
- Complete Work Orders in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Ensure parts used for repair are accurately recorded on the work order.
- Keep work area clean and orderly. Sweep and clean regularly.
- Clean spills/leaks of environmentally hazardous fluids and materials as instructed on the WHMIS sheets, immediately and report incidents to the Branch Manager.
- Submit timesheets on a daily basis
Qualifications and Required Experience
- Basic mechanical ability and working knowledge of diesel powered equipment.
- Basic knowledge of electrical wiring systems (220 and 600 volt).
- Basic reading and mathematical skills.
- Legible handwriting.
- Ability to clearly communicate.
- Ability to take direction.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.
- Uninhibited ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds frequently on a daily basis.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, push and pull, twist and reach overhead.
- Valid Class A or D Driver’s License in good standing.
- Forklift certification an asset.
- WHMIS, Confined Space Training an asset.
- Strong sense of direction.
- Hold a valid passport or able to qualify for one (may be required for advanced training/education).
