AQUATECH Water Operator

(2 positions available - Concord Office)

AQUATECH is a complete service provider of specialized Pumping and Environmental Equipment for fluid handling and testing applications. While mostly known for our construction dewatering and groundwater related services, we also offer a complete line of pumping equipment including diesel, hydraulic and electric powered centrifugals, electric submersibles, light towers and diesel generators. AQUATECH has also expanded their services to include water distribution testing and commissioning programs.

The Water Operator is a member of the Dewatering Team and has a strong understanding of sampling and testing techniques, proper record keeping, instrumentation techniques and regulations and practises. This position requires an experienced individual to oversee and facilitate pipeline cleaning and disinfection as well as flow and pressure testing of watermains and sewer services and temporary pumping systems. Health and Safety is a major responsibility of this position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train and oversee staff (in training) in accordance with Ont. Reg. 128/04 & 129/04
  • Operate metering devises for flow monitoring and recording
  • Operate on-site pumping equipment for flow and/or pressure testing
  • Swabbing, flushing and/or other methods of cleaning watermains
  • Chlorination and sampling/testing to appropriate standards and regulations
  • Neutralizing of chlorinated water for safe disposal
  • Operate temporary pumping systems to operate a water supply system
  • Valve chamber, curb box and hydrant inspections and repairs

Qualifications and Required Experience

  • Hold a minimum valid Class 1 Water Distribution/Distribution and Supply Subsystem Certificate from MOE in accordance with Ont. Reg. 128/04 & 129/04
  • Hold a minimum valid Class G Driver’s License
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a related field; related experience in installation/maintenance and repair of all related mechanical testing equipment
  • General knowledge of fluid dynamics, hydraulics and pneumatics is an asset
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Good organizational, computer and time management skills
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds frequently and on a daily basis
  • Uninhibited ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, push, pull, reach and grasp
  • Sporadic exposure to outdoor weather, shop and job site conditions
